Mrs. Helen C. (Roos) Marzen

Mrs. Helen C. Marzen, 94, of Lehighton, Pa. passed into eternal rest on Wed. March 27th at her residence. She was the wife of Edward T. Marzen. They were married for 73 years last Nov. 23rd 2023. Born in Jim Thorpe, Pa. on Sunday, Sept. 29th, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Hugo & Caroline (Ferrence) Roos. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a registered nurse and worked in homecare hospice for over 25 years and was instrumental in organizing hospice care at the former Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital. Helen was an active member of SS Peter & Paul RC Church, Lehighton where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a former member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Diane Figueroa of Allentown, 4 sons, Edward Marzen (Cathy) of Andreas, Michael Marzen (Mary) of Jim Thorpe, John Marzen (Bernadette) of Lehighton, Carl Marzen (Mary) of Lehighton, a sister, Schelene Fritzinger (Companion Eric Schaner) of Slatington, a brother, Robert Roos of Jim Thorpe, 18 grandchildren, 26 Great-grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Swierczek & siblings, Agnes Smith, David Roos, John Roos, Caroline Reichert, Rosalene Roos. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in her honor will be held on Monday April 1st at 10:30 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, 260 N. 3rd St., Lehighton with the Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis officiating assisted by Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr. Call 9-10:30 in the church. Interment in the parish cemetery. Memorial Contributions in her honor may be made to the church at 18235.
