Mrs. LaRue B. (Barry) Harleman RN

March 9, 1925 ~ December 10, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old


Mrs. LaRue B. Harleman, 92, formerly of Mahoning St., Lehighton passed away Sunday, Dec. 10th at The Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Hayden D. Harleman who passed away Sept. 7, 2005. Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Elmer & Ruth (Arner) Barry. LaRue was a graduate of St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing, Bethlehem, Pa. During her education she was commissioned as a United States Army Cadet Nurse caring for World War II wounded returnee’s at The United States Military Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia. She was later employed as a registered nurse for St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, & The Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, Pa. She retired from her nursing career as a home health care nurse. She was a member of Faith Alive United Methodist Church, Bowmanstown & was a member of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Lehighton where she volunteered her time as a Sunday School teacher and sang on the parish choir. She served the Lehighton community as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 82. Surviving are 4 sons, Richard H. Harleman, & his wife Candace, of Lehighton, Dr. Dennis G. Harleman, & his wife Lyn of Towamensing Township, Dale A. Harleman, & his wife Coleen of Lehighton, Drew A. Harleman, & his wife Kristi of Bear Creek Lakes, a sister, Joan Richmond, a brother, Glenn Barry & his wife Betty Jean all of Lehighton, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, 1 great-grandson, nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Hallman. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 14th at 11 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with the Reverend Dennis L. Brubacher officiating. Call 9:30-11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
