Mr. Robert "Bob" Charles Geiger Sr.

July 4, 1923 ~ April 17, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old


Mr. Robert C. “Bob” Geiger Sr. 93, formerly of Lehighton, passed away Monday, April 10th at Maple Shade Meadows, Nesquehoning surrounded by his cousin/caregiver Edith Lukasevich & the assisted living staff. He was the husband of the late Mary Kerschner Geiger. Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Lewis & Maime (Hinkle) Geiger. He served our country with The United States Marine Corps during World War II attaining the rank of PFC. He received wounds during the south pacific campaign after engaging the enemy at Guadal Canal and also participated in the battle of Cape Gloucester, New Britain. He was proud that his battalion was given an exemplary duty citation from President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the security department at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton, the Lehighton American Legion Post 314 and its WW II Last Mans Club., The Lehighton VFW Post 256, and held a Life membership at The Lehigh Fire Co. #1. In his spare time, he socialized with his friends and enjoyed a good cold bottle of beer and a shot of brandy. Surviving is a close cousin/caregiver, Edith Lukasevich of Jim Thorpe, great nieces & great nephews. He was predeceased by a son Robert Geiger, &  2 brothers, Lewis & Blaine “Skip” Geiger. Friends & relatives are invited to attend a graveside service in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, N. 4th St. Lehighton on Monday April 17th at 11 a.m. followed by Full Military Honors under the direction of the Lehighton UVO.
