Mr. Joseph Wilhelm Sr. Obituary

Mr. Joseph C. Wilhelm Sr., 88, of Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Monday April 9th at St. Luke’s Hospital-Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Marie M. (Grob) Wilhelm who passed away Dec. 1, 1993 and also the husband of the late Verna I. (Neff) Wilhelm who passed away Oct. 7, 2006. Born in Bowmanstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Adam & Anna (Sanders) Wilhelm. He served our country with the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a carpenter working out of the Bethlehem Union Carpenters Local 600. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton, and the Lehighton American Legion Post 314. He was a former member of the Bowmanstown & Lehighton Fire Companies. In his spare time, he could be found woodworking & gardening. Surviving are 2 daughters, Betty Ann, wife of Paul Lesher of Masontown, Pa., Kathleen, wife of Dean David of Lehighton, a son, Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr. & his wife Ann of Lehighton, a sister, Mary Grob of Bethlehem, Pa., a step-daughter, Beverly “Betsy” Pysher & her companion, Robert Kester of Palmerton, a step-son, Maynard Serfass Jr. & his wife Diane, of Lehighton, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, several step-grand & great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Anna Antry & Magdalene Wilhelm. Prayers will be held on Friday, April 13th at 9:30 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr. officiating followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul RC Church 242 N. 3rd St., Lehighton with The Reverend Michael E. Ahrensfield & Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr. officiating. Call 8-9:30 a.m. on Friday. Interment following the Mass in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery N. 4th St., Lehighton with Full Military Honors under the direction of The Lehighton Area UVO. Memorial Contributions in his honor may be made to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church Maintenance Fund, 242 N. 3rd St., Lehighton, Pa. 18235. Online condolences can be offered at www.ovsakfh.com
