Mr. Floyd H. Schaeffer

Mr. Floyd H. Schaeffer, 85, of Gouldsboro, Pa. formerly of (Lehigh Gap)-Slatington, Pa. passed away Monday, April 2nd at Regional Hospital of Scranton, Pa. He was the husband of the late Althea A. (Clauser) Schaeffer who died Nov. 29th, 2010. They were married for 58 years at the time of her passing. Born in Vaughn’s Acres, Wild Creek, Pa., he was the son of the late Floyd A. & Alice May (Zellner) Schaeffer. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a laborer for the Alvin H. Butz Construction Co., Allentown, Pa. He was of the Lutheran Faith. Floyd was a member of Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 1174, Allentown, Pa. and was a former member of Orioles Nest #183, Lehighton. In his spare time he enjoyed feeding the wild animals at his Gouldsboro residence, family get-togethers and camping, especially with his grandchildren. Surviving are 3 daughters, Barbara, wife of Jeffrey Green of Slatington, Mary Alice “Mickey”, wife of Michael Hockenberry of Chambersburg, Pa., Joyce Schaeffer of Gouldsboro, 2 sons, Norman Schaeffer & his wife Robin of Palmerton, Glenn Schaeffer & his wife Nancy of New Tripoli, a daughter in law, Carol Schaeffer of Coplay, 7 grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren, 2 step-Great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a son, David Schaeffer. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 6th at 11 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton, Pa. with the Reverend Russell F. Haab officiating. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Friday. Interment in Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, Trachsville, Pa.
