Mr. Donald R. “Chick” Roth Sr., 89, of Lehighton, Pa., passed away Sunday, November 5th in The Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Florence J. (Cunfer) Roth who passed away, January 23, 2015. Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late William & Bessie (Snyder) Roth. He served our country with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Co B, 165th Military Police Battalion attaining the rank of Sergeant. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for over 35 years as a Surveyor for Penn DOT.  He was a member of Zion United Church Of Christ, Lehighton, held a Life Membership at Lehigh Fire Co. #1, Lehighton, Pa. and was a former member of the Lehighton Odd Fellows Lodge.  An accomplished trombonist, he played in The Lehighton Band for over 60 years. “Chick” volunteered his time as a Scoutmaster for Pack 145 from 1969-1974. He served as a coach for The Lehighton Knee High Notre Dame Football Team & The Lehighton Knee High Lakers Basketball Team. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt &  fish. Surviving are 4 sons, Donald Roth Jr. & his wife, Carol,  Jeffrey Roth & his wife, Sandie, Richard Roth & his wife Yeliz, Robert Roth & his wife Kelly, of Lehighton, Pa.,  9 grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Grace Conarty, Lucille Laury, & 4 brothers, Harlan “Jack”, Richard, Thomas, & William Roth. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 9th at 11 a.m. at The Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 South 4th Street, Lehighton, Pa. with the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Bannerman officiating. Call 10-11 a.m. on Thursday. Interment in St. John Cemetery, Mahoning Valley.
