Mr. Donald Raymond Kunkle

Mr. Donald R. Kunkle, 79, of Lehighton passed away Tuesday, January 2nd at Weatherwood, Weatherly, Pa. He was the husband of Judith A. (Wert) Kunkle. They were married for 52 years last November 6th 2017. Born in Weissport, Pa., he was a son of the late Charles & Helen (Hinger) Kunkle. He served our country with the US Army from 1961-1963 during the early stages of The Viet Nam War attaining the rank of PFC. He later served with the Pa. Army National Guard from 1964 to 1966 attaining the rank of PFCE-3/Basic Airman with Co. B, 165th Military Police Battalion. Prior to retiring, he was employed at The New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, Pa. as a atomizer/laborer. He was of the Lutheran Faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the The Lehighton Indians, The Philadelphia Phillies & The Philadelphia Eagles compete in their sporting events. Surviving is a daughter, Jennifer S. Kunkle of Lehighton, 2 sons, Donald E. Kunkle of Lehighton, Bran K. Kunkle of Jim Thorpe, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Kunkle & a sister, Marian Scitney. A graveside prayer service will be held on Friday, January 5th at 1 p.m. in Franklin Heights Memorial Park, East Weissport, Pa. with full military honors under the direction of The Lehighton Area UVO.
