Mr. David C. "Topper" Binder

April 10, 1942 ~ November 3, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old


David C. “Topper” Binder, 75, of East Penn Township, passed away Friday Nov. 3rd at his residence. He was the husband of Alice M. Ahner Binder. They were married for 9 years on July 12th of this year. His first wife, Bobby Jean Binder, preceded him in death. Born in Allentown, Pa., he was a son of the late David F. & Dorothea (Herlin) Binder. He served our country with the US Navy during the Viet Nam War. David was previously employed as a truckdriver for Makovsky Trucking, Egypt, Pa. and later drove truck for Ciccone Asphalt, Bath, Pa. In his spare time, he worked as a carpenter and most recently was employed at the Times News as a delivery person. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mahoning Valley, Pa.,  a Life Member of Lehigh Fire Co. #1, Lehighton, & held a membership at The Lehighton American Legion Post #314. “Topper” loved watching #48, Jimmy Johnson drive the Lowes Chevy on the NASCAR circuit. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Terrie Farenkopf of Lansford, a son Robert Binder of Oklahoma, 4 step-children, Danielle Robinson of Bowmanstown, Samantha Ahner of Bethlehem, John Ockenhouse Jr. of Lansford, Natasha Ockenhouse of Nebraska, 3 sisters, a twin , Dorothea, wife of Wayne Ditmar of Slatington, Mary Coombe of Mahoning Township, Sandra Binder of Tennessee, 2 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Binder. A graveside Celebration Of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, November  7th at 11 a.m. in The Gnaden Huetten Cemetery, 4th & Union St. Lehighton with the Reverend Christopher DeForest officiating followed by Full Military Honors under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO.
